US $575.00 · or best offer
Description
A finely worked Ottoman Turkish pillow cover embroidered in silk and gilt silver thread, dated by the source to the late 18th century. It measures approximately 13 by 14¼ inches (33 x 36.2 cm), excluding the fringes.
The needlework is an accomplished example of Ottoman blind stitch embroidery, dense, controlled, and exceptionally fine. A piece of this quality reads equally well framed or laid flat within a collection of Islamic art and textiles.
