Strand of round carnelian prayer beads in deep orange-red with a sterling silver tassel, arranged in a coil. — Sixty-six matched carnelian beads with their sterling silver tassel.

Description

A strand of sixty-six carnelian beads, well rounded and evenly matched in a rich natural color, made in Italy in the early twentieth century for the Middle Eastern market. Two separator disks divide the strand in the traditional manner.

The silver tassel is hallmarked "Italy" and marked 925. The beads are strung on silk cord and the strand measures about 21 inches (533 mm); each bead is slightly larger than ¼ inch (7 mm) in diameter. Total weight is 36 grams.
