An original sepia photograph of the ablution fountain in the courtyard of the Muhammad ʻAlī Mosque in Cairo, a building completed in 1848. The image is captioned and numbered in the negative at lower left: No: 11 Fontaine de la Mosquée Mohamet Ali. No photographer's name appears; the plate is tentatively associated with Jean Pascal Sebah.
The photograph measures approximately 21 x 27 cm (8¼ x 10½ in) and is mounted on board of approximately 35 x 43 cm (11 x 17 in).

Condition
Good for its age, with very minor stains. There is a water stain at the center bottom of the matting, together with some toning and edge tears.
