An original 1882 part-issue, No. XXXI, of Picturesque Palestine, Sinai & Egypt, published by D. Appleton & Co. during the golden age of exploration literature, illustrated with engravings on steel and wood after original drawings by Harry Fenn and F. D. Woodward.
This issue contains a full-page plate on heavy matte India paper showing the old Roman ruins of Caesarea, with further finely detailed engravings of the Sinai, desert scenes, Jabel Hammam Farun (Hot Springs), and the Gulf of Suez.
Large-format softcover, the cover printed in blue ink on heavy matte India paper. The thick India wove pages carry the engravings with depth and clarity. Approximately 13 1/8 by 10¼ inches (33.3 x 26 cm), 24 pages.
