Description

Turkish Ceramics by Tahsin Öz, former curator of the Topkapı Saray Museum, published by The Turkish Press, Broadcasting and Tourist Department. The date is discerned from the author's preface, which dedicates the book "to the memory of Atatürk on the fifteenth anniversary of his death", placing publication in 1953.

A large-format survey and an excellent early look at the history of Turkish ceramics, with 75 plates and 144 drawings, 85 of them colored, several as foldouts, all printed on high-quality glossy paper.

Bound in light green textured cloth over boards, the title gilt on the front cover and a gilt tulip on the back.

Condition

. All pages bright and crisp with no writing or other marks; very light toning to some page edges from age. The binding shows shelf wear, with a light water stain to the lower corner not affecting the inside pages.
