Description

A classic Nikon mechanical SLR made in Japan, offered as a complete working kit. The Nikkormat FT-N body carries serial number FT 4678265 and dates to about 1968, the era when Nikon's consumer-line bodies were built to the same uncompromising standard as its professional cameras.

The kit pairs the body with a Nikon Nikkor-H·C Auto 1:2 f=50 mm standard lens (serial 2242317) and a Cavalier 1:2.8 f=135 mm telephoto (serial 730713). A Tiffen 55mm polarizer and a Sky 1A filter are included.

One practical note for the next owner: the exposure meter was designed around 1.3V mercury batteries, which are no longer manufactured. A battery is required only for metering, every other function of the camera operates without one. Repair shops offer a modification that adapts the meter to a 1.5V 625 alkaline cell.

Condition

Very good, clean condition. The interior is spotless; the exterior shows minor abrasions from use. The shutter fires at all speeds. Shutter speeds have not been professionally tested, the assessment reflects observed condition only. The meter requires a 1.3V mercury battery, no longer produced.
