1680 House of Commons Address to the King

An original 1680 printed section from "The Humble Address of the House of Commons, Presented to His Majesty…", London, printed for John Wright and Richard Chiswell. The surviving portion is a single quire fragment of sixteen pages, hand-numbered 268–283, with full margins.

The sheet measures approximately 297 × 188 mm (11.69 × 7.40 in). Laid lines and chain lines are clearly visible, and the paper carries a crowned fleur-de-lis / pot-type watermark of the sort found in late-seventeenth-century English or Dutch stock used by London print shops. It matches the general forms recorded in Heawood and Churchill; the exact papermaker is not identifiable.

A parliamentary printing that has kept all three of the things collectors look for together: period paper, original hand pagination, and a legible contemporary watermark. From an old English collection.
