Chinese Export Blue and White Plate with Garden Pattern

A Chinese export porcelain plate of the mid-19th century, painted in cobalt blue beneath a clear glaze with a hand-drawn floral garden pattern at the center. The dish measures approximately 8¾ inches (22.5 cm) across.

Export wares of this kind were made for the Western trade, and the freehand brushwork gives each example its own character. Small kiln pits remain in the enamel, original to the firing.
