Description

A red transfer-printed stoneware plate in the scenic pattern named Palestine, made by William Adams at the Greenfield Pottery in Staffordshire, England. Arabic and Middle Eastern motifs were a common source for English potters of the period, and the Palestine pattern belongs squarely to that taste.

The plate measures approximately 267 mm (10 1/2 inches) in diameter. The reverse is marked "PALESTINE," with the number 5 and an impressed W. ADAMS mark dating the piece to 1930–1940.
