Bavarian Mitterteich porcelain cabinet plate painted with a portrait of a young woman within a gold band. — The painted maiden at the center of the Mitterteich plate.

Description

A cabinet plate in polychrome porcelain, painted with the portrait of a maiden at center and finished with gold trim and gilt decoration. Within the circular gold band are remnants of a silver floral decoration, now partly worn away.

Marked in gold on the reverse: Mitterteich Bavaria Made in Germany 20. Diameter approximately 29 cm (11½ in), a plate made to be hung or stood, not set at table.
